Dr. Rocío Rivadeneyra

Honors Program Director Rocío Rivadeneyra

Rocío Rivadeneyra is the new director of the Honors Program.

She was named interim director in the summer of 2016 and was officially appointed to the position effective October 1, 2017.

Rivadeneyra has made ISU her home since 2002 after receiving her Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Michigan. She is an associate professor in the Department of Psychology, and is affiliated with the Latin American and Latino/a studies and Women and Gender studies programs at Illinois State.

Rivadeneyra studies the role of media portrayals on youth’s conceptions of ethnic identity, gender role development, and sexual attitudes and beliefs. She is particularly interested in media portrayals of Latino/a characters and its impact on Latino/a youth.
