Karen Coats, ENG, published the book The Bloomsbury Introduction to Children’s and Young Adult Literature (Bloomsbury Academic). She also authored the chapter “The Gothic in American Children’s Literature” for The Cambridge Companion to American Gothic.

Mark Olson, SWK, and Eros DeSouza, PSY, published “The influence of sociocultural factors on college students’ attitudes toward sexual minorities” in Journal of Sociology and Social Welfare. Olson also published “Exploring military social work from a social justice perspective,” in International Social Work.

Sherri Replogle, POL, co-authored “Interactions between International Norms: The Case of the Civilian Protection and Antiterrorism Norms,” for Air and Space Power Journal, Africa and Francophonie.

Sudipa Topdar, HIS, “The Corporeal Empire: Physical Education and Politicising Children’s Bodies in Late Colonial Bengal” appeared in Gender & History.

Honors
Virginia Walker, special education, was recently honored with the Positive Behavior Support Award by TASH, an international disability advocacy organization.

Presentations
Ali Riaz, POL, presented the paper “More than Meets the Eye: Narratives of Secularism and Islam in Bangladesh” at the conference “‘Ghosts from the Past? Assessing Recent Developments in Religious Freedom in South Asia.” The conference, organized by the Wilson Center, Royal Society for Asian Affairs of the United Kingdom and Taylor and Francis press, focused on religious freedom in South Asia.

Craig Cullen and Jeffrey Barrett, MAT, presented a workshop for educators, “Measurement Activities for the Common Core for State Standards-Mathematics” at a regional meeting of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics in Chicago.
