Alumni can watch the extraordinary stunts and performances at this year’s Gamma Phi Circus spring shows, a Sibling Weekend tradition that features the oldest collegiate circus in the nation. This year marks the 89th anniversary of the founding of Gamma Phi at Illinois State University in 1929 by Clifford “Pop” Horton. See the thrills, magic, and fun as favorite fables and characters come to life, Gamma Phi Circus-style! Priority seating and ticket rates are offered to alumni and families for a limited time. A reunion night has also been planned for Gamma Phi Circus alumni. Order tickets and plan to head to the Redbird Big Top for “Once Upon a Time.”

Special rates and priority seating for alumni (sections L and M) are available for early purchase through Friday, April 6. Alumni tickets are $15 for ages 13 and up, $10 for children ages 5-12, and $4 for children ages 4 and under.

Circus Alumni Reception, April 21

Gamma Phi Circus alumni attending Saturday’s evening show are warmly invited to a reception to be held prior to Saturday night’s performance, from 6-6:45 p.m., in the Redbird Room at Redbird Arena.  Evening show tickets are admission to the reception and should be purchased before the event. Join fellow circus alums and reminisce to celebrate 89 years of Gamma Phi.

Circus alumni are encouraged to show off vintage Gamma Phi tees and membership pins when cheering on this year’s troupe. Light refreshments will be served. Gamma Phi Circus alums who wish to attend the reception should RSVP at GoRedbirds.com/Promotions using code GPCALUMS when purchasing tickets.

Matinee Carnival

Student Alumni Council will sponsor its seventh annual pre-show carnival on the Redbird Arena concourse, beginning at noon prior to the 1 p.m. Saturday matinee show on April 21. This popular Sibling Weekend event is kid-approved and open to everyone that has a youth ticket to the matinee show. The carnival includes a variety of games, face painters, photos, fun, and prizes for kids of all ages.
