The Department of Education’s What Works Clearinghouse has added the National Board to its list of programs that meet the highest standards of research evidence supporting their effectiveness. The What Works Clearinghouse identifies interventions, programs, policies, and practices that meet the most rigorous research standards to answer the question “What works in education?” The National Board is one of only three programs nationally that meets their threshold.

This recognition builds on a large body of studies, highlights of which are captured in the National Board’s Impact Brief and on the National Conference of State Legislature’s website. In the past few months, new research has found that Board-certified teachers’ turnover rates are nearly four times lower than for other teachers.
