Honors
Kris Harding, COE, was honored with the Crystal Award for exemplary service from the Association for Women in Communications, Bloomington-Normal chapter. Emeritus member of the Board of Trustees Betty Kinser was also honored at the event as an AWC Communications Innovator.

Maria Luisa Zamudio-Mainou, TCH, has been named the next executive director of the National Center for Urban Education (NCUE), effective July 1.

Performances
Phillip Hash, MUS, presented sessions on beginning band pedagogy and job hunting for first-year music educators at the Illinois Music Education (ILMEA) Conference in Peoria.

David Snyder MUS, presented the research poster “The Effectiveness of an Online MMEd Degree: Perceptions of Recent Graduates,” at the ILMEA Conference.

Bill Koehler, MUS, performed a concert with the Vandana Duo at the Contemporary Arts Center in Peoria.

Presentations
Jeffrey Barrett, MAT, presented “Teaching Multiplication with Area Measurement Models” to the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Southern Section in Carbondale, Illinois.

Chris De Santis, ENG, gave an invited talk, “Langston Hughes: The Brilliant Rebel, Rebelling Against Everything,” at Princeton University. The talk was part of a two-day conference/celebration, Remembering Langston Hughes—His Art, Life & Legacy Fifty Years Later, hosted by Princeton’s Department of African American Studies.
