The Dean of Students Office will hold a series of Safe Zone Orientation sessions in room 314 of the Student Services Building. The events are free, and those interested are required to register.

The program is organized by Diversity Advocacy to provide support to the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) community. The session provides students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to create safe spaces on campus that are highly visible, and easily identifiable to lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) persons. During the two-hour orientation session, participants engage in a mock coming-out exercise, discuss case studies, and receive resources and follow-up activities.

Upcoming Safe Zone Orientation sessions will be:

  • 2-4 p.m. April 18
  • 9-11 a.m. May 4
