Learn about authentic Indonesian cuisine, experience the depth of Bengali poetry, and enjoy Taiwanese and Indian movies in the annual Asian Heritage Week. The weeklong event will begin  Monday, April 2 and run through Friday, April 6.  All events are free and open to all.

Monday, April 2, Chinese calligraphy demonstration
5:30 p.m. Center for Visual Arts, room 311
Enjoy warm Chinese tea, and learn the history of Chinese calligraphy and participate in the workshop.

Tuesday, April 3, Indian Tamil film: Kannathil Muthamittal  (A Peck on the Cheek)
6:15 p.m. Caterpillar Auditorium, State Farm Hall of Business, room 139
Kannathil Muthamittal is a 2002 musical war drama, and the recipient of several national awards. Often referred as Kollywood, the Tamil film industry originates from the southern state of Tamil Nadu in India. Guests will get to participate in a question-and-answer session after the film.

Wednesday, April 4, Bangla Parbon: Celebrating Bengali poetry
5:30 p.m. DeGarmo Hall, room 551
Celebrate national poetry month this April with Bengali poetry from poets such as Rabindranath Tagore and Jibanananda Das. Listen and experience some beautiful Bengali poems known for their intellectual depth and rich heritage. A question-and-answer session will take place after the recitals.

Thursday, April 5, Indonesian Cuisine Demonstration and Workshop
5 p.m. Food Lab Kitchen, Turner Hall, room 131
Indonesian cuisines is known for their intense flavors and colorful appearance. The event will take guests on a culinary ride of this southeast Asian country. Viewers will also get to taste the food after the demonstration.

Friday, April 6, Taiwanese film: Cape Number 7
6:15 p.m. Caterpillar Auditorium, State Farm Hall of Business, room 139
Cape Number 7 is a 2008 romantic musical drama and the recipient of three national awards. The $136 million Taiwanese film industry has come a long way since its inception in the year 1901. The industry has secured a position for itself in the global market with several of its directors receiving international acclaim for their work. The showing will be followed by a panel discussion.
