“Life is short. It’s up to you to make it sweet.” This statement, said by Sadie Delany, is the basis of the play Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters’ First 100 Years. The Black Colleagues Association invites all alumni, family, and friends to witness the triumphs and tribulations of these two women as performed onstage at the renowned Goodman Theatre. Along with the show, guests can attend a preshow reception to connect with fellow Redbirds while enjoying heavy hors d’oeuvres.

Based on the book by the Delany sisters, Having Our Say follows the true-life story of Sadie and Bessie, two sisters who couldn’t be more opposite. Witness how the daughters of a former slave grew up in the Jim Crow South and overcame strife and hardship together.
