Illinois State Distinguished Professor of Politics and Government Ali Riaz has published a new book, Undying Issues: Critical Debates about Contemporary Challenges. Six essays on secularism, religion and politics, militancy, Islamic education, and governance are included in the book.

Riaz argues that these issues have intrinsic values and are relevant to contemporaneous sociopolitical developments. While these issues are not new, they have gained salience in recent times both at the global stage and in many countries, Riaz insists. Published by Pathak Samabesh (Dhaka, Bangladesh), the book offers revision to the dominant perspectives, interjects into the discussions about these topics, and attempts to reframe the debates.
