Julie Webber presented her research on modern mass shootings in the United States and other countries at the department brown bag lunch on Wednesday, March 21.

Webber discussed topics such as the importance of the space that a shooting occurs in for understanding the shooting and an analysis of how certain post-Columbine mass shootings might reflect attempts at one-upmanship over the shooting at Columbine. In the Q&A, Webber discussed topics such as policies that could be pursued to reduce the chance of a mass shooting.

Webber is the author of two books on the topic of school violence. Beyond Columbine: School Violence and the Virtual is her most recent publication.
