Artist and alumnus Robert DuGrenier, M.F.A. ’79, will be inducted into the College of Fine Arts Hall of Fame at noon, Monday, April 16, at University Galleries in Uptown Normal.

A meet and greet with light refreshments will take place at 11 a.m. before the Hall of Fame induction ceremony, with an artist talk immediately following.

An artist, sculptor, and designer, DuGrenier is a master of many materials. Having trained as a glassblower and goldsmith at Philadelphia College of Art and Hornsey College of Art in London, he then earned a M.F.A in sculpture at Illinois State University.

In 1984 DuGrenier was commissioned to create and produce the one-twelfth scale model from which the French artisans sculpted the new flame for the 1986 Centennial Restoration Project of the Statue of Liberty.

For more than 30 years, DuGrenier has designed, created, and installed custom glass installations for architects and interior designers around the world with his high-end sculptural installations and chandeliers located in museums, hotels, restaurants, stores, private homes, and gardens.

His company, Robert DuGrenier Associates, is well known for the design and development of perfume bottles and innovation packaging for the cosmetic industry and designing custom awards for a variety of corporations including Nickelodeon, MTV, the CMT Music Awards, VH1 Music Awards, as well as others. All while continuing to create his own personal artwork.

DuGrenier’s visit to campus will include a hot glass workshop and lecture for students in the glass program.

The Hall of Fame induction and artist talk are free and open to the public.
