The Study Abroad Office is excited to announce that applications for study abroad participation during the spring 2019 semester are now open!
In an effort to give students more time to plan for their experience, our office will also be offering early admission decisions for select programs through our Early Bird Deadline. Apply for any of the following programs by June 15, 2018, and have an admission decision by July 1, 2018.
Additionally, students that apply to these programs may be eligible for one of 10 $1,000 General Education Study Abroad Scholarships. Please visit our website for information about eligibility and application requirements.

Can a student getting a elementary education degree study abroad her junior year for one whole semester?
Hello! The Study Abroad Office works with students and their academic advisors to find out what academic requirements students have left in their degree plan and then review our programs to find one that fits their specific academic needs. Typically, for elementary education students, the further along in their degree they are, the more difficult it is for them to find classes that fit their academic requirements abroad, because the Elementary Ed. plan of study has very specific required courses in the third and fourth years. There are programs that take place during the semester where students can do student teaching or gain observation hours abroad, which is typically what upper-level education majors who study abroad choose to do. Usually those programs take place during the student’s senior year.
It might be possible for an elementary education major to study abroad for a semester, but the office would need to work with the student and the academic advisor to explore the options.
