Abigail Stone joined the faculty this year as an assistant professor of anthropology. She holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in anthropology from Washington University in St. Louis. She also has a B.A. in anthropology from Rice University.

Her research interests include African archaeology, movement and mobility, emerging urbanism, diet and subsistence regimes, trade, and social boundaries and identities.

She has published in Quaternary International, Cultural Anthropology, and Journal of African Archaeology. Professor Stone is currently involved in archaeology projects in Mali, Cameroon, and Zambia.
