Jawahar has served in the division since 2012.  In addition to his many duties, Jawahar is credited with leading the University’s recent Higher Education Commission (HLC) reaccreditation, which resulted in a full 10-year accreditation with no follow-up reports. He also coordinated the HLC multi-location visit, which resulted in a positive review with Illinois State meeting all requirements.

Jawahar coordinated the work of the University’s academic planning committee and guided new program development. He also served on the President’s Climate Assessment Task Force.

“Jim has made a tremendous positive impact in the Office of the Provost and I know his return to MQM will make it an even stronger department than it already is,” Murphy said.  “He is a respected, award-winning teacher and scholar, and we congratulate him on his success at Illinois State.”

Jawahar, who was named a University Professor in 2012, teaches courses in human resource management and organizational behavior. His research focuses on performance appraisal, selection, organizational justice, citizenship and counterproductive behaviors, and work-family dynamics. He has published more than 60 articles in such journals as the Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management, Journal of Labor Research, Personnel Psychology, and Journal of Applied Psychology.

“It has been my privilege to serve the University as its associate provost for six years,” Jawahar said. “While my initiatives have significantly impacted the University, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my role as associate provost, I am looking forward to returning to my home department, engaging students in the classroom, and devoting more time toward research and duties as editor of Career Development International.”
