Illinois State student-athletes set a new semester departmental GPA record of 3.24 during the spring 2018 semester, topping the previous mark of 3.23 set during the previous four semesters. In addition, three teams tied or beat their previous team GPA records.

Illinois State’s women’s programs combined for a 3.49 cumulative GPA, topping the previous high of 3.45, and the Illinois State men’s and women’s tennis programs were the team GPA winners for the spring 2018 semester. The men tied their previous GPA record of 3.61 set twice previously and the women set a new standard with a 3.83 GPA. Illinois State’s softball team also set a new team record with a 3.59 team GPA, an improvement on last spring’s then-record 3.57 mark.

A total of 295 Redbird student-athletes (of 410 total) were named to the AFNI Honor Roll, accounting for 72 percent of the group, including every member of the women’s golf, soccer, tennis, and volleyball teams. Additionally, a total of 85 student-athletes posted perfect 4.0 GPAs during the spring semester.
