Alumna Bich Tran, who completed the graduate program in the Department of Politics and Government in May, recently participated in several conferences: the International Political Science Association conference in Brisbane, Australia, this summer; the Western Political Science Association Conference in San Francisco last March; and the Global Social Science and Technology Forum in Singapore in 2017. She presented a paper titled “American Political Settlement and the Role of Perception in Assisting Trump’s Victory.” This paper explores the concept of “political settlement” in the U.S. and how people’s perception of settlement helps explain the result of the 2016 presidential election. Tran’s trip to Australia was supported by the Department of Politics and Government.

Tran will begin a Ph.D. program in Education Policy at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville this fall.
