Senior Spanish teacher education major and French minor Kiley Walsh was named Female Scholar-Athlete of the year at this year’s Reggie awards ceremony. Walsh has played on Illinois State’s women’s golf team all of her years at Illinois State and was also awarded the prestigious Robert G. Bone scholarship in 2017-2018.  Walsh studied abroad in Granada, Spain and is currently student teaching.

Walsh’s professors in Languages, Literatures, and Cultures are very proud of her accomplishments in both Spanish and French, and find her an extraordinarily deserving recipient.  Acting Chair and Associate Professor of Spanish Julie Lynd had this to say about Walsh: “I loved having her in class, was happy to support her for a Bone Scholarship, proud to watch her translate and transform a paper she wrote for class to present at the Women’s and Gender Studies Symposium, and now delighted to see her nominated for several accolades at The Reggies Student Athletics Awards to finally, at the end of the night, be given the 2018 Scholar-Athlete Award! Muchas felicidades to Spanish Teacher Education major Kiley Walsh!”
