Rochelle Gridley, local resident and a member of the McLean County Museum of History will address the next University Club meeting at 4:30 p.m. Friday, October 19, in the Circus Room of the Bone Student Center. Gridley will present “The Orphan Train in McLean County.” The event is open to the University community.

Gridley’s presentation will explore the work of the New York Juvenile Asylum and its work in McLean County. For 19 years Normal, Illinois, was the hub for a network of social workers deployed throughout Illinois that stretched back to New York City. Gridley will discuss McLean County’s connection with the orphan trains.

All faculty, staff, annuitants, and guests are welcome to attend University Club, which runs from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Continued program support is provided by the Office of the Provost and the Office of the President. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
