Illinois State University’s Feminist Led Activist Movement to Empower (FLAME) is seeking submissions for an open-mic-style performance night in February. Contributions can include monologues, poems, short narratives, or other pieces of writing in any style.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, December 14, and pieces can be sent to chsmit1@ilstu.edu or cmwint1@ilstu.edu.

Submissions can include topics such as feminism, women’s rights, sexuality, gender identity, global women’s issues, violence again women, and women’s empowerment.

Known in years past as The Vagina Monologues, based on Eve Ensler’s play, FLAME members wanted to take a new direction this year. “We have traditionally hosted The Vagina Monologues every year, but this year we wanted to make it more reflective of ISU and our community,” said FLAME member Cas Winters. “All topics are welcome this year, and we really want to hear unique voices.”

Submissions will be considered for performance, and will be performed by the writer or an actor in February.
