Applications are available for the African American Studies (AAS) Summer Research Initiative.

The AAS Summer Research Initiative provides financial support to tenure track/tenured faculty who are engaged in research related to African American life, cultural/artistic expression, history, or politics. Sponsored by the African American Studies Program, the initiative is a competitive award, totaling $1,500. Grants must be used to pursue a specific research project.

Projects may have either a contemporary or historical focus. AAS is an interdisciplinary field. Faculty members from all academic disciplines who are engaged in the scholarly study of African Americans are encouraged to apply.
