Assistant Professor of the Department of Politics and Government Kerri Milita was honored at Illinois State University’s Founder’s Day Convocation, held at 2 p.m. on February 21, 2019, in the Brown Ballroom. The ceremony celebrated ISU’s heritage and recognized the accomplishments of faculty, staff, students, and alumni.

Professor Milita was awarded the University Research Initiative Award which recognizes faculty who have initiated a promising research agenda early in their academic careers.

Milita came to ISU in 2014 after earning her Ph.D. at Florida State University. In her time here, she has published seven peer-reviewed articles and one book chapter in such prominent journals of the discipline as Electoral Studies, Political Behavior, and Public Policy and Administration. She also received two grants from the prestigious National Science Foundation and an additional one from the Special Projects Funds of the American Political Science Association.

Commenting on her achievements, Department Chair T.Y. Wang, remarked: “All of the above attests to Dr. Milita’s exceptional productivity in research, as well as in teaching and service since her arrival at ISU in 2014.”
