Roomba Destroyer

Eight Department of Technology students competed in the second annual XTREME Collegiate Clash on November 3, 2018, in Dayton, Ohio. The event was sponsored by Xtreme STEM, which provides hands-on programs that engage students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines with a path to careers in manufacturing.

There were four college teams and the competition was fierce. The Illinois State team won one of the four battles.

The Illinois State team was unable to participate in the last battle due to a non-working motor on the left side of their robot, the Roomba Destroyer. The Illinois State team consisted of Colton Bach, Darius Christer, Chris Valdez, Julian Jovanovich, Shaun Gaines, James McGrath, Nick Foley, and Jordan Heise.

“We have learned from our mistakes but will be coming back for revenge. We will be attending another battle this semester! We have learned a lot from our mistakes and plan on making an even more effective robot!” said Heise, a senior engineering technology student.
