The event is free and co-sponsored by the Illinois State School of Music and Colors International, an Illinois State student organization.

“People can experience how music, through its tonalities, modalities, and Africanist aesthetic, has helped the black community to heal, give hope, resist, inspire, and build community,” said Professor of Music Ama Oforiwaa Aduonum. “We are celebrating creativity and resilience through music.”

This family-friendly concert involves audience participation of diverse, black music styles from work songs to hip hop. For additional information contact Aduonum at (309) 438-7340.
