Study: Schools With Principals From New Leaders Program Show Higher Student Learning Gains Students attending K-8 schools that have had a New Leaders principal for at least three years score at least 3% higher in math and roughly 2% higher in English language arts (ELA) than students with school leaders prepared in other ways. Teacher Shortage Felt Across the State and Curriculum The shortage of teachers in Illinois has gotten more serious over the past year according to a new report released Monday from the Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents of Schools, which was based on survey responses from 527 of the 858 district superintendents in Illinois.
