The Student Government Association (SGA) has been serving the student body at Illinois State University for 95 years. SGA is the official governing body of students at Illinois State, recognized by the University. They currently hold 21 voting seats on the Academic Senate, granting them a degree of influence in higher education. The council also offers a wide variety of programs and services designed to enhance your experience at Illinois State and advocate for student needs, including Diversity Week and Mental Health Wellness Week.

Student elections will be held April 1 through April 3 online at My.IllinoisState.edu. Demond Handley, graduate assistant advisor for SGA, believes elections are important because “they determine which students are going to be representing the student body to the University and determine which issues are important. The more you or your group are involved, the more likely that your issues will be heard.”

Be sure to vote for next year’s representation in Student Government Association and Association of Residence Halls (ARH).

You can vote through My.IllinoisState.edu from April 1 through April 3. Results will be announced April 3 at 4:30 p.m. during the SGA assembly in the Old Main Room of the Bone Student Center.
