Student Activities and Involvement, a unit of the Dean of Students Office, is collecting contact information from faculty and staff who are interested in serving as volunteer advisors for registered student organizations (RSOs). Advising allows you to provide students individualized attention and assist in creating a strong, vibrant campus life. Oftentimes, advisors work with students who share a similar passion or interest as themselves, allowing the advisor to connect with students outside of the classroom.

The time commitment for being a RSO advisor varies from organization to organization. We encourage the student leadership and advisors to set expectations and define the working relationship at the beginning of each term.

Currently, Illinois State recognizes over 400 student organizations who fall into a variety of categories listed in our RSO Directory. Periodically, we receive requests for potential advisors from currently existing RSOs or students who want to start an RSO. If you are interested in being added to our database of faculty and staff that students can contact, please fill out the RSO Advisor interest form.

If you have any questions, please contact Amy Miller at ajmill2@IllinoisState.edu or (309) 438-3212.
