Redbird Athletics announces Spack Gives Back campaign
The Illinois State football program’s spring practice session concluded on April 13, as the ‘Birds took the field for the Spring Showcase to give fans their first look at the 2019 team. The Redbirds put on a show indeed, with the Red team defeating the White team in a thrilling 28-27 victory. Football fans interested in 2019 season tickets can purchase them now, and if they do, head coach Brock Spack will step up as part of the new “Spack Gives Back” campaign.
Spack has agreed to donate $10 to the Weisbecker Scholarship Fund for every NEW full season ticket purchased prior to the 2019 season. The campaign includes season ticket sales of any type, including adult, young alumni, Illinois State University faculty/staff, and youth tickets and runs from March 25 through the start of the 2019 season in late August. As of today, over 30 new full season tickets have been sold.
“The support we receive from our donors and season ticket holders is crucial to the success of our team on and off the field,” Spack said. “We’ve recorded a 48-12 record at Hancock Stadium in my time as head coach, and much of that success is the support we receive on game days and the atmosphere our fans create. Our players feed off that and there is no doubt that it matters to them and affects the outcome on Saturdays. This new campaign is my way of saying thank you to our dedicated fans that buy season tickets and support our program every time we step on the turf at Hancock Stadium.”
The Redbirds will play six home games at Hancock Stadium in 2019, with the home opener scheduled for September 7 against Morehead State. Illinois State will also host Northern Arizona (September 21), defending FCS national champion North Dakota State during Family Weekend (October 5), Indiana State for Homecoming (October 26), Northern Iowa (November 2), and Missouri State for Senior Day (November 16).
