Ama Oforiwaa Aduonum, THD, won Outstanding Leading Performance, Outstanding Production, and Outstanding Direction at the regional contest for the American Association of Community Theatre Festival (AACTFest) for her work Walking with My Ancestors. The piece was directed by Kim Pereira.

Presentations
Michael L. Dougherty, SOC, gave an invited lecture titled “Land Tenure and Mining Conflicts in Guatemala and El Salvador” at the University of Missouri.

Bill McBride, ENG, presented “Past the Outskirts of Infinity-Yahweh’s Qadash Blues” on the panel Sacred Troubling: Topics in the Hebrew Bible, New Testament, and Qur’an for the American Comparative Literature Association at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

Lisya Seloni, ENG, presented “Preservice teachers’ L2 writing experiences in a first year writing program in Turkey: An ecological framework of L2 writing teacher education” and co-presented “A collaborative autoethnography of dissertation mentoring: Voices of transnational women” for the TESOL International Convention in Atlanta, Georgia.

Eric Wesselmann and J. Scott Jordan, both PSY, and Shelly Clevenger, CJS, presented at the Quad Con in Peoria. Clevenger presented “Trekkies, Bronies, and Otaku – Oh My! Fandom under a microscope”; Wesselmann presented “The war over Star Wars: What does the future hold in store?” and “Are we really ‘special?’ Defining ‘human’ in Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Horror genres”; and Jordan presented “Myths gone wild: Why we need stories like American Gods, Game of Thrones, Supernatural, Wonder Woman, Daredevil, Black Panther, and others!”
