Honors
The play, Walking with my Ancestors, written and performed by Ama Oforiwaa Aduonum, MUS, and directed by Kim Pereira, THD, won the Outstanding Use of Music Award, Outstanding Original Work Award, Outstanding Performance Award, and State Champion at the recent Illinois Theater Festival. The play has also been selected to perform at the Region III AACTFest play festival.

Presentations
Jeffrey Barrett, MAT, presented at the Development, Refinement, and Evaluation of Learning Trajectories for Geometric Measurement for the 2019 Society for Research in Child Development Biennial Meeting, in Baltimore.

Susana Calderon, MCN, was one of the presenters of “Toothbrushing Behavior: Beneficial Role of the Oral Microbiota” at the Midwest Nursing Research Society 43rd annual Research Conference for the 2019 Midwest Nursing Research Society in Kansas City, Missouri.

Publications
Michael L. Dougherty, SOC, published “Boom Times for Technocrats: How Environmental Consulting Companies Shape Mining Governance” in Extractive Industries and Society. His co-edited volume, Mining in Latin America: Critical Approaches to the New Extraction, was just re-issued in paperback for the first time.

Danielle Lillge, ENG, co-authored “Embracing uncertainty: When inquiry drives the reading conference” for Voices from the Middle.

Nick Mullins, Comptroller’s Office, published a paper in the Journal for Religion, Society and Politics titled “Contesting the Secular West: Religio-cultural Identity Politics in Western Liberal Democracies.”

Lisya Seloni, ENG, published “Transdisciplinary becoming as a gendered activity: A reflexive study of dissertation mentoring” for the Journal of Second Language Writing.
