World Hearing Day is an annual advocacy event that is held March 3 to raise awareness and promote hearing health care. This year, the Illinois State University Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) members offered free hearing screenings at Watterson Towers for student residents.

The event was organized by Emily Ferguson, an undergraduate member of SAA, and was incredibly successful. Over 60 students had their hearing screened, and also received a free set of earplugs for hearing protection. The students were counseled on healthy hearing and educated about the use of hearing protection. The students really enjoyed this experience, and SAA members enjoyed the opportunity to work with students on campus.

SAA plans to continue and expand this event in the future on our campus!  If you want to learn more about hearing services offered on campus, contact the Eckelmann-Taylor Speech and Hearing Clinic for additional information.
