As part of an ongoing accreditation process, Illinois State University successfully completed its periodic assurance review with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). HLC officials found no concerns or need for monitoring.

The assurance review process was conducted in the fourth year after Illinois State earned full reaccreditation with the HLC in 2015 with no concerns or monitoring, the highest level of accreditation a university can receive. That full accreditation is continuous until the 2024-2025 academic year.

“Accreditation with the HLC is a high honor and a validation of the excellent work being done at Illinois State,” said Provost Jan Murphy. “The results of the assurance review show that excellent work is continuing. I want to thank all those who worked on the assurance review process, and special thanks go to Bruce Stoffel, coordinator of Academic Programs and Policy, for his leadership in developing the assurance argument narrative.”

The Higher Learning Commission is an independent corporation that was founded in 1895 as one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States. HLC accredits degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions in the North Central region.
