Ngozi Ukweni, a graduate student in the College of Business, was chosen by Forbes magazine to attend the “30 Under 30” Scholars’ Summit. Chosen from thousands of students from the United States and Canada, Ukweni is one of 600 students to attend the summit held in Detroit, Michigan. Forbes lists those selected as “our annual list chronicling the brashest entrepreneurs across the United States and Canada.”

Ukweni came to Illinois State from Abia State, Nigeria. She is earning a master’s degree in business administration with a focus in business analytics. “Being a Forbes Under 30 Scholar is an inspiration to me that my dreams are valid,” said Ukweni. “The award presents an accolade for academic excellence and leadership which are key elements of my brand.”

Dean of the College of Business Ajay Samant noted Ukweni is ideal to represent Illinois State University at the summit. “Ms. Ngozi Ukweni exemplifies the qualities of determination and ethical business leadership which we inculcate in the ISU College of Business,” said Samant. “Her national recognition is hard-earned and well-deserved.”

Ukweni added a special appreciation for the College of Business, which granted her this opportunity, and nurtured her as an international student. “This provides a great opportunity for me to connect and grow my network, learn and represent everyone that believes in me,” she said.
