Research and Honors

The screenplay, Moe and the Little Guy, written by Kass Fleisher and Joe Amato, both ENG, made the quarter-finals in the Nicholl Fellowship Awards, hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Mark Olson, SWK, was elected to be on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Sociology and Social Welfare.

The Illinois Board of Higher Education approved Rocio Rivadeneyra, Honors Program, as a member of the board for Diversifying Higher Education Faculty in Illinois.

Jeremy Driskell, CHE, co-authored “Antibodies Irreversibly Adsorb to Gold Nanoparticles and Resist Displacement by Common Blood Proteins” along with students Guadalupe Ruiz, Nicki Ryan, Kylie Rutschke, and Olatunde Awotunde for Langmuir.

Robert McLaughlin, ENG, wrote “Twenty-First-Century Wallace: Teaching Wallace amid His Contemporaries” for Approaches to Teaching the Works of David Foster Wallace. New York: Modern Language Association.

Ela Przybylo, ENG, co-authored “Polish Asexualities: Catholic Religiosity and Asexual Online Activisms in Poland” for LGBTI+ Activism in Post-Soviet (Post-Socialist) Space, New York: Palgrave Macmillan.

Alison Bailey, WGS/PHI, presented “On Anger, Silence, and Epistemic Injustice,” as part of the Scott & Heather Kleiner Lecture Series at the University of Georgia’s Philosophy Department.

Dawn Beichner, CJS, presented, “Prison Theatre as a Pathway to Healing,” at the annual European Society of Criminology meetings in Ghent, Belgium.

Diane Dean, EAF, spoke on “Developing Policy to Foster Stronger Faculty Ethics,” at the conference Connecting Silos: Sharing Ideas and Best Practices in the Teaching of Professional & Research Ethics, sponsored by the National Center for Professional & Research Ethics at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Timothy Lash, CHE, co-authored “Azulichlorins and carbachlorins derived therefrom” for the Journal of Organic Chemistry with students Mario Noboa and Deyaa AbuSalim.

Janice Neuleib, ENG, presented “Cause and Effect: What Outcomes Do We Want Our Teaching to Produce” at the 55th annual Allerton English Articulation Conference in Monticello.

Any Wright, SWK, presented “Attachment identity as a predictor of relationship satisfaction, sexual satisfaction, and relationship commitment among heterosexual and sexual-minority women” at the seventh annual LGBTQ Research Symposium in Champaign.
