The Illinois State University School of Theatre and Dance will present Ignite, the Fall Dance Concert featuring a series of faculty choreographed dance pieces. Performances run November 20–22 at 7:30 p.m. and November 23 at 2 p.m. They will be held in the Center for the Performing Arts Theatre (CPA).

The dance concert offers students a chance to show off their growth as performance artists through a variety of genres. Darby Wilde, associate professor and head of the dance program explained that the casting process for this concert focuses on giving dancers the opportunity to learn from multiple choreographers.

“They [students] are challenged by different genres, movement vocabulary, and various processes used to create the works. The growth of the students is reflected in their embodiment of the work and artistic expression,” Wilde stated.

This fall’s concert will feature choreography by Laina Reese Carney, Greg Merriman, Kaley Pruitt, Darby Wilde, and Sara Semonis.

“This fall we had a dual guest-artist residency with Dara Milovanovic and Alexender Michael, dance artists from Cyprus. Both of their works will be in the Fall Dance Concert, as well,” Wilde adds.
