The Illinois State University Mock Trial Team competed in the National Invitational Tournament sponsored by Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, on January 25–26, 2020. This large tournament, which is the team’s last invitational competition before its first postseason competitive tournament in two weeks, included 44 teams from several states.

At the tournament, Illinois State University’s seven student competitors battled against teams from Eastern Michigan University, Grinnell College, University of Illinois-Chicago, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Josh Rinker ’06 and Brad Rigdon are the team’s attorney coaches. Rinker is an attorney in private practice in Bloomington. Rigdon is the first assistant state’s attorney in McLean County.

“The team has worked very hard all season,” Rinker said. “We look forward to watching our students in action at the upcoming regional tournament.”

That regional tournament, which is sponsored by the American Mock Trial Association, will take place on the campus of Northwestern University in Evanston on the weekend of
February 7–9, 2020.
