Thomas E. McClure, director of legal studies, Department of Politics and Government, was recently quoted in US News & World Report about the paralegal profession. McClure notes that because the occupation is highly technical, precision is important in the paralegal field.

If someone is “a broad brush type person, it’s probably not the profession for you,” McClure said. Additionally, paralegals do a significant amount of writing, so someone who is more confident in their public speaking abilities than their writing skills might prefer a different occupation. McClure is the chair of an American Bar Association’s commission that approves paralegal programs.
