The Office for Student Research announced the winners of the first-ever Image of Research juried competition. Winning entries and finalists can be viewed on the office’s website.

The competition offered students the opportunity to engage creatively with their research, share behind-the-scene views of their research process, or portray their scholarship in visual form. Students entered one compelling, static image of their research along with a 200-word narrative for review by a jury of local artists.

First Place – Brett Williams “A Little Light Reading” $250
Second Place (tie) – Rachael DiSciullo “For Whom Does the Male Bird Sing” $150 and Ian Rines “Cricket Conflict” $150
Honorable Mentions – Julen Carrasco Oteo “Tics’ Spyglass” $50 and Rocky Roque “Recoloring a Colorless Community: The Rhetoric and Discourse over the New Pride Flag” $50
Peoples’ Choice – Hannah Harris  “Effects of Graston Technique on Blood Flow in the Upper Trapezius” $150

Undergraduate Category
First Place – Radiance Campbell “Consent and Intent” $250
Second Place – Chris Apuzzo “Visualizing a Microscopic Process of Astroglia Cells” $150
