The Illinois State University Planetarium and University Galleries are pleased to offer Kambui Olujimi’s Skywriters.

Skywriters runs Saturdays at 2 p.m. through February 15. Weekday screenings include Thursday, February 6, at 9:30 a.m.; Tuesday, February 11, at 11 a.m.; and Wednesday, February 19, at 9:30 a.m. Complementing this, Kambui’s artwork can be seen at the University Galleries exhibit, An Infinite and Omnivorous Sky, through February 19.

“Olujimi creates his figural imagery by stitching together an encyclopedic range of film clips—earth, sky, street scenes, and microscopic views of natural and manmade materials… The work highlights connections between contemporary art and astronomy, mythology, creative writing, and new technologies.”  — Newark Museum press release, 2018.

Skywriters was designed as a full-dome planetarium program, commissioned by the Alice and Leonard Dreyfuss Planetarium at the Newark Museum, in Newark, New Jersey.

Admission to this series of special programs is free. Planetarium seating is limited and available on a first-come-first-serve basis.

The ISU Planetarium is located under the white-domed roof at the eastern end of Felmley Hall of Science Annex.  Felmley Hall is located on the northeast corner of the ISU campus at the intersection of College Avenue and School Street.

The University Galleries of Illinois State University is located at 11 Uptown Circle, Suite 103, in Normal.

Free parking for the Planetarium’s weekend programs is available a short distance from the ISU Planetarium in the University’s red tag F-67 parking lot, located on the east side of School Street.
