CANCELLED: In light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, the annual Charity Drag Show has been cancelled.

The alumni reception and priority seating for the Pride Charity Drag Show has been canceled as the University continues to monitor and take all necessary precautions to minimize the COVID-19 situation. Refunds will be processed accordingly.

The 22nd annual Charity Drag Show will hit the stage at Illinois State University’s Brown Ballroom in the Bone Student Center at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 28.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at the Braden Box Office. The show generally sells out quickly, but if tickets are left, they will be available the day of the show at the Braden Box Office. Tickets are $7 for students and $10 for community members.

Performers will be announced soon. The evening is coordinated by ISU Pride.

Redbird alumni and friends can purchase tickets online for reserved seating at the show. Alumni can also take part in free preshow and intermission receptions. The preshow reception begins at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $10. All reservations must be made by 4:30 p.m. March 23. Purchase tickets and register for the free reception online or by calling Alumni Engagement at (309) 438-2586.

Proceeds from the show will support the University’s LGBTQ+ Student Support Fund. The fund provides emergency financial assistance for students who lose the financial support of their family due to their sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

“The fund is an incredibly important resource for our students,” said ISU Pride President Emily Patterson. In the last five years, the LGBTQ+ Student Support Fund has allocated more than $50,000 to Illinois State students. “The amount of applications requesting assistance from the fund has increased dramatically in the past couple of years. The money that students receive can help cover expenses from rent and tuition to food and toiletries. This fund is the only way that some students are able to survive.”
