I DID IT FOR US❤️ • For my single mom @fridacrochets who sacrificed so much and has raised me as a single parent since day 1. For my grandma who helped care for me since the day I was born and for all of your sacrifices. I would not be where I am today without these superwomen who are my biggest role models, my rocks, and my world. • Throughout these 4 years I accomplished goals that I never thought I would: – Made history at ISU by becoming the 1st Hispanic female Student Trustee on ISU’s Board of Trustee (served 2 terms) which included responsibilities such as being the sole student member of the University’s highest governing body, Established tuition and fees for Illinois for the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 academic years, Oversaw $405 million University operating budget, Approved capital expenditures that are over $500,000, and evaluated and assessed the University President performance, salary, and bonuses – Student Government Senator – Advocated at the State Capitol for Higher Education funding (6x) – Freshman Orientation Leader (2x) – Welcome Week Intern – Social Media Influencer for Student Affairs – Dean of Students office worker for 4 years – Peer Instructor – Served on over 15 committees – Presenter at a National Conference with my Vice President of Student Affairs @levesterj , Director of Marketing, Megan Rolfs, and Social Media Consultant and Author, @josieahlquist – Guest speaker on @josieahlquist -Future Alumni Leader Award Recipient – Class of 2020 Commencement Speaker – Finishing strong with a 4.0 this semester – First-generation student AND I was accepted to the Higher Education Student Affairs Master of Science program at Florida State University all tuition paid for, stipend for working at the Career Center, AND a yearly scholarship/fellowship. #Masters2022 To all my friends, mentors, administrators and staff who have become my Redbird family: I will miss you more than words can describe and I can’t say thank you enough because I truly wouldn’t be here without you all. For someone who had many odds against her, I can proudly say I have left my mark. Here’s to the best 4 years and to my next chapter ❤️🎉 #redbirdproud
