Melissa Ramirez, Admissions, was named a James A. Alexander Newcomer recipient award winner from the Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling.   

Presentations 
Ali Riaz, POL, participated in two webinars regarding the impacts of COVID-19 in South Asia. The webinars, “COVID-19 and Corruption: The View from South Asia” and “Assessing COVID-19 Control Measures & Prospects for Socio-Economic Recovery” were organized by the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), a Washington-based institute of the National Endowment for Democracy, and an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.   

William Thomas McBride, ENG, presented “Left Hand Right Hand. Cinematic Soundtrack Splits,” at the Performing Text in Music and Theater: Interdisciplinary Readings and Conversations in Chicago.  

Maryna Teplova, ENG, presented “Building second language identity through writing poetry” at the 2020 ITBE annual convention in Naperville. Teplova also presented “Constructing Utopia in Ursula Le Guin’s The Left Hand of Darkness” at the Humanities Education and Research Association in Chicago.
