I am very pleased to hear today’s news that under pressure from U.S. higher education institutions, including Illinois State University, the federal government has rescinded the July 6 rule blocking international students from staying in the U.S. while taking online-only courses

This news is a great relief to Illinois State University and colleges and universities across the country who greatly value international students at their institutions

I am grateful for the role that the Illinois State University team played in joining Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s effort to file important multistate litigation challenging this July 6 rule

Illinois State remains committed to being a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming campus for all students and scholars. University staff members continue to support our international students as they prepare for the fall semester.

Respectfully,

Larry H. Dietz

President
