2020 Agriculture Career Fair and professional development opportunities
The Department of Agriculture at Illinois State University will host its fall agriculture career fair virtually from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. October 1. This annual event is organized to provide a time and place for Redbirds to meet with recruiters in the agricultural industry who are seeking talented individuals, like Illinois State students.
ISU National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA) is hosting industry professionals from Agriculture Future of America (AFA) and GROWMARK at 5:30 p.m. September 16. NAMA will talk about how students can grow as a professional in these uncertain times and what students can do to set themselves apart.
ISU NAMA will also hold an HR Panel on September 23. Human resources representatives from Farm Credit Illinois, GROWMARK, and AgReliant Genetics will share tips on how to stand out at the virtual career fair. The students in attendance will be able to questions during the panel.
The department encourages agriculture students take advantage of these opportunities in the weeks leading up to the fair.
“It is no secret that the students in the Department of Agriculture at Illinois State University are extraordinary, which is the reason why so many employers return year after year for recruitment at the career fair,” said Professor of Agribusiness and Food Industry Management Aslihan D. Spaulding, who also serves as director of graduate studies for the department. “ISU and the Department of Agriculture pride itself in high-job placement rates after graduation. These young agricultural leaders are providing the agricultural industry with highly marketable skills, which is great for generations of producers and consumers across the world.”
