Illinois State University’s Latin American and Latino/a Studies (LALS) program marks Latinx Heritage Month as a moment to learn and empathize with the plight of Latino families in the Americas in the midst of a world pandemic.

LALS will host the Conversando Entre Nosotros Lecture from noon-1:30 p.m. Friday, October 2. Dr. Kantara Souffrant will present “Teaching Diaspora in Museums: A Haitian Art Case Study.” Contact LALS for the Zoom link.

Souffrant is an assistant professor of global/non-western art history and visual culture for the University’s Wonsook Kim School of Art. The presentation will explore the Haitian art collection at the Milwaukee Art Museum as a case study and as a connection to Latinx-specific art and culture.
