Distinguished Professor Ali Riaz has been quoted in the Economist.

In a report on the ongoing flux in the Bangladesh-India relationship and growing Chinese influence, Riaz is quoted saying ‘as well as deep pockets, China has fewer scruples than most Western benefactors’ which is an influential factor in Bangladesh’s reliance on China for economic help. Referring to the soft power, Riaz notes that “the number of Bangladeshis studying in China has grown exponentially in the past few years.” He further noted, “India’s policymakers and its press cannot stop incessantly reminding Bangladesh that it is smaller and less important. China does not do that.”
