The Taste of Redbirds has become an annual event that many ISU athletics fans look forward to each year in February. The event, which allows those in attendance to try food items from several of the department’s corporate partners, cannot be held in its regular form this year due to COVID-19. However, the department has found a way for fans to still participate in the event in 2021 via the newly-renamed Taste of Redbirds Around Town.

Beginning Monday, February 15 and running through Monday, March 1, fans will be able to show their support of Redbird Sports Properties dining sponsors. Participants can pick up a passport at the Redbird Arena Ticket Office during regular business hours or print one from GoRedbirds.com to get started. They will then have two weeks to make a minimum of five $5 purchases from five different participating restaurants.

Restaurants taking part in the Taste of Redbirds Around Town include: Avanti’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Denny’s Doughnuts, D.P. Dough, Famous Dave’s, Jimmy John’s, McDonald’s, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Noodles & Company, Papa John’s, Schooners, Times Past Inn, and Wahlburgers. Additionally, we encourage everyone check out our valued partners Alamo II, Jack Lewis Jewelers, and Weibring Club Pro Shop while driving around town to get your food.

Entire households cannot be entered, and everyone should compete with their own passport. At least five receipts will have to be stapled to the passport and returned to Redbird Arena Ticket Office by 4 p.m. Monday, March 1, to be entered to win a special prize. One lucky participant will win the use of a luxury spring 2021 football field-level suite (accommodates approximately 10-15 people) and an authentic game-worn, autographed Illinois State James Robinson jersey.
