The point of Homecoming is to reconnect with old friends and colleagues as you gather to celebrate shared pride in your alma mater. In an effort to keep all Redbirds safe and healthy, this year will be the first-ever Homestaying … wait, what? Since we cannot gather in person this spring, Homecoming will be hosted virtually and Redbird alumni and fans will have the opportunity to show off their school spirit from home. That’s right, this is the first-ever at-home Homecoming.

As such, the annual campus decorating contest will be taken virtual. Decorate your space (home office, living room, residence hall room) with red and white to show off your Redbird pride! Need some assistance in collecting Redbird swag to decorate with? Look no further, our licensed vendors and local retailers have you covered. For official contest entry, you must be faculty, staff, or a student. However, Redbird fans and alumni, we would love to see your decorations as well!

The quickest way to make a statement in your space is to hang an Illinois State University flag. There are plenty of options to choose from. Walmart has a great selection of Redbird flags, including this great football flag—perfect to #BackTheBirds with!

Looking for more than a flag? Pick up an ISU pennant to add a bit of classic spirit to your space!

Decorating your office and looking for a professional option to have in your Zoom background? The Alamo II bookstore has a nice print of Hancock Stadium that would go great on your wall as a permanent fixture.

Of course, nothing says school spirit quite like a foam finger or mini football.

If you really feel like going all out and decorating your entire home for Redbird Homecoming this year, Barnes & Noble at Illinois State University has some great decor for year-round. They have different doormat options that show any visitors or delivery drivers that yours is a Redbird household. In addition to the doormat, they also have cute signs and picture frames to showcase your school spirit.

We wish we could all be together for Homecoming this year, but we are excited to be able to continue some of our favorite traditions. Be sure to share photos of your at-home Redbird spirit on social media by tagging the Alumni Association on Facebook or Instagram or mention @ISU_Homecoming on Twitter. We can’t wait to see what you decorate!
