For each month this semester, Health Promotion and Wellness is going to take a look at one of the eight dimensions of wellness and highlight some of the ways those dimensions can be explored and engaged with, whether you are on or off-campus. This month, we are going to focus on vocational wellness.
Vocational wellness can be defined as “matching your core values with interests, hobbies, employment, volunteer activities, and community service.” This allows us to express talents, passion, and personal values.
Illinois State offers a surplus of events that fall under the vocational wellness umbrella. We are going to highlight two things that you can do to work on your vocational wellness.
Health Promotion and Wellness offers ergonomics assessments to university employees. The goal of ergonomics is to reduce stress and eliminate injuries and disorders associated with the overuse of muscles, bad posture, and repetitive tasks. For more information on ergonomics assessments, visit the Wellness website.
