To provide a clearer picture of the current efforts by the University to reach an agreement with SEIU Local 73 (the union that represents our approximately 400 graduate teaching assistants or GTAs), Illinois State University has released details of its current offers to the Union. These offers were verbally presented on March 3 during mediation (or, in the case of the two non-economic proposals, in subsequent side meetings prior to March 18) and delivered in writing prior to the March 18 mediation session. ISU has offered fair proposals that show meaningful movement and ensure the package provided to our GTAs is competitive with peer institutions. The University is committed to good-faith negotiations with SEIU Local 73 and continues to await a counterproposal from the Union.  The next negotiation session with the federal mediator is scheduled for Monday, April 12.
