Earlier this spring, the University released multi-factor authentication (MFA) to students, faculty, and staff. Since its release, the Information Security Office (ISO) has been promoting the importance and value of using MFA on university accounts. The goal is to have most members of the institution enable MFA before the deadline April 30. In support of that goal, the ISO, TechZone, and the Office of Technology Solutions are hosting a prize raffle.

All current students, faculty, and staff that have MFA enabled by the end of April 16 will be entered into a prize raffle. This includes those who were already enabled prior to the announcement of the raffle.

If you are unfamiliar with MFA, it is a security protection that prevents threat actors from gaining access to your account. Even if they were able to obtain your password, they will be unable to sign into your account with MFA in place.

Without MFA, threat actors can gain access to your account and steal data, infect systems, and further attack others. Imagine your name attached to scam email that triggers more phishing attempts. The implementation of MFA increases the overall security for your account, keeping these malicious characters out and your information safe.
